Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin Kenneth Li Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2023

In 2015, philanthropist Dr Li Dak Sum generously donated HK$300 million to three universities, namely, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Each university received HK$100 million donation to set up an endowment fund for the Li Dak Sum Yip Yio Chin Kenneth Li Scholarship, which aims to support students from Ning Po College and Ning Po No. 2 College to pursue higher education in the three universities. There were 88 scholarship recipients in 2022/23 academic year.

The scholarship presentation ceremony 2023 was hosted by CUHK on 27 March 2023. The ceremony was officiated by Mr Kenneth Li, President of Ning Po Residents Association and Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK. Professor Yang Wang, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement of HKUST, led the HKUST scholarship awardees to attend the ceremony. Other guests attending the ceremony included Professor Chen Lin, Associate Vice-President of HKU, Dr. Hui Sin Kuen, Principal of Ning Po College, Mr. Leung Chiu Yin, Principal of Ning Po No. 2 College, and students from CUHK, HKU and the two colleges.

During the ceremony, Mr Kenneth Li presented certificate of merit to all the scholarship awardees as recognition of their hard work. He encouraged the students to continue the pursuit of excellence and contribute to the community after graduation to reciprocate Dr Li Dak Sum and his family's generosity.
