The sharing session began with Mr Ken Chan from Flash Green, a social enterprise that focuses on recycling and redistributing residual stock of short-dated best-before date products. Through the integration of technology and sustainability, Flash Green is fostering smart and sustainable campus and office culture to reduce food waste. Mr Jason Chan from AREIX then shared the concept of a wealth management robo-assistant which aims to improve the way ordinary people manage and invest money. After that, Mr Jason Cheung from Qualifly introduced their one-stop AI revision platform targeting students from primary and secondary school. It’s an alternative solution to traditional exercise books and mock exams, making revision more effective, convenient, and personalised while saving teachers’ and parents’ time and effort. Finally, Prof. Li Ning, who led the Aquaponics project at HKUST, introduced the aquaponic farm making use of ecological roles of fish, vegetables, and bacteria to minimize environmental waste. It shows that being environmentally friendly can also be profitable while raising awareness about the environment.
Followed by the presentations given by the four speakers, there was a discussion and mingling session where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and network with the speakers. The event was concluded with a happy hour session provided by Jebsen Group.
Jebsen Group has been a long-time supporter of HKUST, providing an annual scholarship in perpetuity for HKUST students since 1995. This 28-year partnership has benefited 441 students. The event provided a valuable opportunity for HKUST start-ups to showcase their ideas and for Jebsen's stakeholders to learn more about the latest technological trends and advancements in the industry.
