HKUST Receives a Generous Gift from EMBA Alumnus Mr. PAN Yi to Support Establishment of Named Professorship to Attract Global Talents

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a generous gift from our EMBA alumnus, Mr. PAN Yi, for cultivating an intellectually vibrant environment for top-tier education and cutting-edge research.

In appreciation of Mr. Pan’s support, the School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) will establish a named professorship named “Pan Yi Professorship in Business”. The cheque presentation ceremony was held on January 20, 2024, and the cheque was received by the management of the School , including Dean Prof. TAM Kar Yan,  Senior Associate Dean Prof. HUI Kai Lung, and Associate Dean Prof. FONG Yuk Fai who is also the Academic Director of HKUST EMBA Program. The ceremony was attended and witnessed by Senior Advisor to the President and Special Advisor to the Dean of Business School, Prof. Albert IP.

EMBA Alumnus, Mr. Pan Yi said, “Whether it's entrepreneurship or investment, I deeply understand the importance of talent to various industries. "To achieve one's own fulfillment, one must first achieve the fulfillment of others." The purpose of establishing the "Pan Yi Professorship in Business Education" is to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the professors at HKUST in the field of academic research, encourage talent cultivation, and support the better development of the School of Business and Management.”

Dean Tam expressed gratitude to Mr. Pan for embracing the School’s vision of attracting and retaining top talent worldwide. He said, “Talent holds the key to our future success at HKUST Business School. The establishment of ‘Pan Yi Professorship in Business’ will not only recognize outstanding faculty but also enable the cultivation of an intellectually stimulating environment that fosters excellence in education and research.”

Mr. Pan’s generosity is a shining example of the profound impact our alumni have on nurturing talent. We sincerely thank him for his invaluable support.

Introduction of Mr. PAN Yi, EMBA Alumnus (Class of 2011)

Mr. PAN Yi, an alumnus, is an outstanding entrepreneur and philanthropist. The company he co-founded, Shenzhen Inovance Technology Co., Ltd, successfully went public on the A-share Growth Enterprise Market in 2010, becoming a leading enterprise in China's industrial automation, new energy vehicle powertrain, and rail transit power systems. In addition, he founded Value Capital, investing in multiple companies and successfully helping them go public. Mr. Pan is also actively involved in philanthropy, founding the Nanjing Li Zhi Yang Guang Xin Hui Xin Foundation, which focuses on donating reading halls and reading courses to primary schools in remote areas. He is also an alumnus of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's EMBA program, serving as the Suzhou Vice Chairman of the 4th HKUST EMBA Alumni Association, and was elected as Chairman of the 6th HKUST EMBA Alumni Association, dedicated to connecting the school, teachers, students, alumni, and enterprises.
