The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the Donor Appreciation Reception and Chinese New Year Celebration on February 17, 2025, at the University’s Shaw Auditorium. The event brought together over 120 esteemed guests, including donors, alumni, and supporters of HKUST, providing an opportunity for the University to express its appreciation whilst celebrating Chinese New Year.


Prior to the ceremony, guests enjoyed an exclusive open-top bus tour of the HKUST campus. The tour included a visit to the Cheng Kar-Shun Robotics Institute, where they learned about the latest developments and trends in robotics research, highlighting the University's competitive edge in the field. 


The celebration at the Shaw Auditorium featured an engaging opening performance by the University Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by the captivating sounds of the Tunatics A Cappella, and a vibrant Lion Dance by the HKUST Shaolin Martial Arts Society, showcasing the incredible talents and diversity of HKUST students.


As a highlight of the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to the inaugural cohort of HKUST Foundation Patrons, honoring their invaluable contributions to the University's mission and vision.

The HKUST Foundation is an establishment under the Council of the University designated to help raise funds to support the continued development of the University. Its key objectives are:
