The ceremony began with a warm welcome from Prof. Cameron CAMPBELL, Acting Dean of School of Humanities and Social Science, who expressed gratitude to all attendees, particularly to The Shaw Foundation, whose generous support made this exhibition possible. Their commitment to fostering the arts within our community is invaluable.
Then, the curator of the Exhibition, Prof. Flora FU, Associate Professor in Humanities Education, delivered an insightful speech highlighting the importance of art in fostering community engagement and cultural appreciation. Their remarks reinforced the university's commitment to supporting the arts and encouraging future generations of artists.
The exhibition features work by four talented artists- CHAN Kwok Lok, Sam CHENG, SHUM Kwun Yi, Sim and YAU Wing Fung, Ross —each offering a unique perspective on Hong Kong’s iconic landscapes. Through their innovative use of traditional ink techniques, these artists invite viewers to explore the intricate relationship between nature and urban life.
The ceremony concluded with a guided tour of the exhibition, allowing guests to explore the captivating artworks up close. The exhibition will remain open to the public until March 13, 2026, providing an opportunity for the HKUST community and beyond to experience the rich artistic interpretations of Hong Kong's landscapes.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Shaw Foundation for their support and invite everyone to visit the exhibition to celebrate the artistic spirit thriving within our community. For more information, please visit the exhibition webpage.
