Donation Report on the HKUST - Tai Po Fire Relief Fund

The fire incident at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po has deeply saddened our community, touching the hearts of everyone at HKUST. In times of hardship, the compassion and unity demonstrated across Hong Kong reaffirm the strength we hold when we stand together. With this spirit in mind, HKUST immediately launched a donation campaign for the Tai Po Fire Relief Fund, bringing the HKUST community together to support those affected.

Through our collective efforts, we raised HK$3,417,667.92 from 2,443 donors. Part of the donations, amounting to HK$788,462.43, is being used to provide tuition assistance and living allowances for affected HKUST students and staff. The University has also allocated the same amount to offer them much-needed support. The remaining HK$2,629,205.50 was transferred on April 1, 2026 to the Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, established by the HKSAR Government, extending our care to those affected during this challenging time.

We sincerely thank all contributors, including our staff, students, alumni and friends, for their generosity and solidarity. Your collective support has enabled HKUST to respond promptly to the needs of our students, staff, and the wider community.
