Digital displays are everywhere, indoors and outdoors and within public transit systems, to advertise campaigns and broadcast information.  However, their penetration is limited to the number of people passing by the signage location.  Now a patent-pending mobile social media technology developed by HKUST-NIE Social Media Lab will break this barrier, defy the physical limitations of digital displays, and amplify their power and exposure beyond the signage location to the delight of advertisers and audience alike.

James She is an assistant professor in the HKUST Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and the founding director of HKUST-NIE Social Media Lab, Asia’s first lab of this nature where he leads the University in developing innovative cyber-physical social media systems for the new digital age. A visiting research fellow at Cambridge University and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council (Social Media), he is a recognized thought leader in new media and cyber-physical societies, working alongside government and business leaders in developing key social media issues on a global scale, and taking us into exciting new frontiers.
