Cells in our body divide as long as we live. They have the remarkable ability to divide the genetic material (DNA) equally and accurately to two cells during cell division. It is now known that defect of this process is one of the key causes of cancer. The study of the molecular basis of cell division in normal and cancer cells has led to new understanding of cancer and may contribute to the identification of better therapeutic drugs.
